About CIRS

Understanding the illness

Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) is a multi-system illness triggered by exposure to biotoxins — most commonly mold and other organisms found in water-damaged buildings. It is a measurable, physiological condition driven by a dysregulated immune response, not an allergy or a psychological condition.

About 25% of the population carries specific gene variants (HLA-DR) that prevent the body from clearing biotoxins normally. In these individuals, toxins recirculate and trigger ongoing inflammation that can affect the brain, hormones, immune system, and nearly every other body system.

CIRS often presents as a cluster of symptoms that don't seem to fit together — fatigue, brain fog, sinus congestion, joint pain, mood changes, and more. Many patients have seen multiple providers and received different diagnoses without finding relief.

If you have a history of living or working in a water-damaged building and experience multiple unexplained symptoms, CIRS may be worth investigating. A free discovery call is a good first step to discuss whether coaching services might be helpful for your situation.

The Shoemaker Protocol is a sequential, evidence-based treatment approach developed by Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker. It addresses each step of the CIRS pathway — from removing biotoxin exposure and binding toxins, to restoring hormonal and immune balance.

The protocol involves specific lab testing, targeted interventions at each step, and careful monitoring of progress. It requires working with a clinician trained in the protocol, and navigating it can be complex without guidance.

Yes. CIRS is a recognized condition with established diagnostic criteria, including specific lab markers and symptom clusters. Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker's research has been published in peer-reviewed literature, and the diagnosis is supported by objective laboratory findings.

That said, CIRS remains underdiagnosed and is not yet widely known among all healthcare providers. Many patients spend years seeking answers before finding a clinician familiar with the condition.

Coaching services

What coaching looks like

As your coach, I help you understand every aspect of your CIRS journey — your lab results, the Shoemaker Protocol steps, environmental exposure reduction, remediation reports, and how to stay organized throughout treatment.

I also help you prepare questions for your healthcare providers, understand what your clinician is recommending and why, and navigate the process with more confidence. Coaching is education and support — it is not medical advice or treatment.

No. Coaching services are educational in nature and do not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. I am not your treating clinician.

However, I collaborate with experienced healthcare providers trained in the Shoemaker Protocol who can provide medical evaluation, laboratory testing, and prescription treatment when appropriate. I can help connect you with those clinicians when medical care is needed.

The free 15-minute discovery call is designed to determine whether coaching services are a good fit for your situation. It does not include detailed case review, lab interpretation, or treatment guidance.

A paid Initial Consultation (60 minutes) is a full one-on-one session where we dive into your health history, current challenges, lab results, and treatment pathway. Follow-up consultations (30 minutes) provide ongoing support as you move through recovery.

Absolutely. Many clients come to coaching after they have already started the Shoemaker Protocol and want help understanding their labs, keeping track of where they are in the process, or making sense of their clinician's recommendations.

Coaching works alongside medical care — it does not replace it. Having both a knowledgeable coach and a qualified clinician gives you the most comprehensive support.

All consultations are conducted virtually via video or phone, making it easy to connect regardless of your location. This is especially helpful for CIRS patients who may have limited energy or mobility.

Most clients begin with a comprehensive 60-minute initial consultation followed by follow-up sessions every 2–6 weeks, depending on where they are in their recovery. Coaching is personalized, so the frequency of visits is based on your individual needs and treatment plan.

There is no long-term commitment or required coaching package. My goal is to provide the level of support that’s right for you.

Medical care access

Connecting with clinicians

I collaborate with experienced healthcare providers trained in the Shoemaker Protocol. When medical evaluation, laboratory testing, or prescription treatment is needed, I can help connect you with those clinicians.

One advantage of this collaborative model is that many patients are able to access Shoemaker Protocol medical care within days rather than waiting months — helping them begin the evaluation and treatment process sooner.

Medical evaluation and treatment are provided by licensed healthcare professionals trained in the Shoemaker Protocol. These clinicians handle the clinical side of care — including ordering and interpreting labs, prescribing treatment, and monitoring your progress.

My role is coaching and education. Together, we provide a comprehensive support system for your recovery.

This is a very common situation. Many patients have a primary care provider or specialist who is supportive but not trained in the Shoemaker Protocol. Coaching can help you understand what questions to ask, what labs to request, and how to advocate for yourself within your existing care team.

If you need a clinician specifically trained in CIRS, I can help connect you with appropriate providers.

Getting started

Your first steps

The easiest first step is to schedule a free 15-minute discovery call. This gives us a chance to talk about your situation, answer any questions you have, and determine whether coaching services are a good fit.

There is no commitment required, and no preparation needed. Just come as you are.

If you have any recent lab work, a list of your current symptoms, or notes from previous provider visits, those can be helpful to have on hand. But if you don't have anything organized yet, that's okay — part of what we do together is help you get organized.

Come with your questions. The more specific you can be about what you're confused or concerned about, the more useful the session will be.

Yes. Many people come to coaching while they are still in the process of seeking a diagnosis. Coaching can help you understand what CIRS is, what the diagnostic process looks like, and how to find a clinician who can evaluate you properly.

You don't need a formal diagnosis to benefit from education and support.
