Many skin conditions have common dermatologic causes. However, if you're also experiencing fatigue, brain fog, headaches, sinus congestion, muscle aches, difficulty concentrating, or other unexplained symptoms, it may be worth considering whether an underlying inflammatory illness or environmental exposure could be contributing to the way you feel.
For some individuals, exposure to water-damaged buildings and mold may play a role in the development of Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS).
Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) is a multi-system inflammatory illness that can develop after exposure to biotoxins — most commonly from water-damaged buildings and mold. It affects the immune, neurological, and hormonal systems, and can produce a wide range of symptoms that are often mistaken for other conditions.
Because CIRS can affect so many body systems simultaneously, patients often spend years searching for answers before an environmental cause is considered. Skin symptoms — including persistent rashes, unusual sensitivity, or conditions that don't respond to standard treatment — can sometimes be one piece of a larger inflammatory picture.
Common CIRS symptoms
Many patients experience several of these symptoms together, often without a clear connecting diagnosis.
I'm Katrina Harp, PharmD — a pharmacist, Certified CIRSx Coach and Consultant, and former CIRS patient. My role is to educate and support patients navigating the CIRS journey, helping you make sense of your symptoms, understand your test results, and move through the Shoemaker Protocol with clarity and confidence.
I help you understand your laboratory results, interpret the Shoemaker Protocol, and make sense of environmental assessment and remediation reports. My goal is to ensure you feel informed and organized at every step — not overwhelmed.
When medical evaluation is needed, I collaborate with experienced healthcare providers trained in the Shoemaker Protocol. This means patients can access both expert coaching and qualified medical management — often within days rather than waiting months for an appointment.
You don't need a formal CIRS diagnosis to start. A free discovery call is the first step.
No commitment, no pressure — just a conversation to see whether coaching might be a helpful next step for you. Katrina will respond within 1–2 business days.
Coaching services are educational in nature and do not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Participation does not establish a pharmacist-patient or provider-patient relationship.
